Symptoms That Bring Sugar Land Women to Us

These problems are common, but they are not something you have to live with. Find your symptom to see how we treat it.

Leaking urine when you cough, laugh or exercise

Stress urinary incontinence. Pelvic floor therapy, a pessary or a small in-office or outpatient procedure can help.

Bladder leakage treatment

Sudden urges and racing to the bathroom

Overactive bladder or urge incontinence. Options range from bladder training to bladder Botox and Axonics therapy.

Overactive bladder care

Vaginal pressure, heaviness or a bulge

Pelvic organ prolapse. Many women do well with a pessary or therapy; surgery is one option, not the only one.

Prolapse treatment

Waking up at night to urinate

Nighttime urination (nocturia) often has a bladder, hormone or fluid-timing cause we can sort out.

Causes and treatment

Bladder infections that keep coming back

Recurrent UTIs deserve a full evaluation, not just another round of antibiotics.

Recurrent UTI care

Bladder pressure, pelvic pain or painful sex

Interstitial cystitis, pelvic floor muscle pain and other causes are diagnosed and treated together.

Pelvic pain care

Hot flashes, night sweats or vaginal dryness

Menopause symptoms can be treated with a hormone plan built around your health history.

Hormone therapy

Pain or problems after mesh surgery

Vaginal mesh exposure, pain or bleeding can be evaluated and revised by a pelvic reconstructive surgeon.

Mesh complications

Treatment Options, From Simple to Surgical

Most women improve without surgery. When a procedure is the right choice, we use the least invasive option that fits your goals.

Dr. Solafa Elshatanoufy, board-certified urogynecologist seeing Sugar Land patients in Katy, TX

Meet Dr. Solafa Elshatanoufy

Dr. Elshatanoufy is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (urogynecology), and advanced minimally invasive gynecology. She completed her residency and urogynecology fellowship at Wayne State University and also holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, which helps when medications for bladder and menopause symptoms need careful adjusting.

She is affiliated with Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital and works alongside Oyindamola Gbadamosi, FNP, and pelvic floor physical therapist Sonya Asghari.

Your First Visit

  1. Before you come: bring your ID, insurance card, a list of medications and any prior test results or surgical records. A 2 to 3 day bladder diary helps if we ask for one.
  2. A conversation first: Dr. Elshatanoufy reviews your symptoms, history and goals with you, unhurried.
  3. A gentle exam: a focused pelvic exam, with in-office testing only if it is needed.
  4. Your plan: you leave knowing what is going on and what your options are.

Dr. Elshatanoufy is simply wonderful! She took the time to thoroughly explain my extensive lab results and other tests, answered all of my questions, and gave me the confidence and peace of mind I needed before moving forward with the procedure.

The entire staff was also incredibly attentive, courteous, and welcoming throughout my visit. I truly loved my experience there and felt very well cared for. I definitely trust Dr. Elshatanoufy and her team with my health needs and would highly recommend them!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Solafa. She is warm, attentive, and incredibly compassionate. She takes her time during appointments, listens carefully to concerns, and never makes you feel rushed. Her bedside manner is truly wonderful, and she creates such a comfortable and reassuring environment. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients. Very sweet, professional, and knowledgeable. I’m so grateful to have found her for my mom’s treatment.

Dr. Elshatanoufy was truly lovely to work with. I’ve had a hard time pinning down my symptoms but she was willing to hear my concerns and do a thorough examination to rule out more serious conditions. She was thorough, efficient, patient, gentle, and kind during the pelvic examination, which is a vulnerable position for women. I felt that she genuinely cared for my wellbeing. After receiving less than ideal care at a neighboring practice in Katy, I am really grateful to Dr. E for validating my concerns, making me feel heard, and reassured with my next steps.

The waiting room was pretty busy and cold when I went. Suggest bringing headphones and some long sleeves!

My experience perfection. From check in to check out. Dia was my MA and she was so professional and a pleasure. She answered all my questions and made sure I was taken care of. Dr Elshatanoufy was AWESOME! Great bedside manner and make my exam comfortable. Then I had the pleasure to check out with Elizabeth and she was just as pleasant. I can tell this is an office that cares greatly for their patients!

This was my first visit at Katy Women’s Pelvic Health. It was a great experience, from checking in with a very helpful and friendly receptionist to being seeing by Nida the office manager, Oyin the NP and Dr. E. Everyone was very friendly, professional, and made the visit very comfortable. They thoroughly explained all the finding and the options for treatment. I highly recommend this practice.

Sugar Land patients are currently seen at our Katy office at 410 W Grand Pkwy S, Suite 320. Most reach us by taking the Grand Parkway (SH 99) north.

Are you accepting new patients from Sugar Land?

Yes. We are accepting new patients and accept most major insurance plans. You can request an appointment through our contact page.

What does a urogynecologist treat?

A urogynecologist treats pelvic floor problems in women, including bladder leakage, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, recurrent bladder infections, pelvic and bladder pain, and complications from mesh surgery.

Should I see a urogynecologist or a urologist for bladder leakage?

Both can help, but a urogynecologist is trained in both gynecology and female pelvic floor medicine, so bladder symptoms, prolapse and pelvic muscle problems are evaluated together.

Is leaking urine after having children normal?

It is common but it is not something you have to accept. Pelvic floor therapy, a pessary or a small procedure helps most women.
